Irish Folklore
Mandrake. (Solanaceae)
A furrow must be dug around the root until its lower part is exposed, then a dog is tied to it, after which the person tying the dog must get away. The dog then endeavours to follow him, and so easily pulls up the root, but dies suddenly instead of his master. After this the root can be handled without fear.
Made from tubes of Passion in Ireland by an Irish artist. All my original works are open to reasonable offers. For those of you who have travelled to Ireland and forgot or just did not have the time to buy something to remind you of your trip, now is your chance to own an Original, one of a kind and signed by the Irish artist paintings. Some of my work depicts the most beautiful places in Ireland, like the Cliffs of Moher, The Ring of Kerry, The lakes of Killarney, Kinsale in Co Cork, The Skelligs Islands off Co Kerry, Dingle in Co Kerry, or the Bog lands of Connemara. For those of you that have not yet visited Ireland, shame on you If you come across a painting that you like but the Original is already Sold, please...

Beautiful image and interesting description. I do however feel very sorry for the dog but I guess "its a dog's life" after all. I hope the medicinal use of the Mandrake makes it worth it. Perhaps if you tied a couple mandrake roots to one dog it would save dogs.
Conor Murphy replied:
Thank you Michael for these kind words and also for the feature on your great group.

This is very creative and unique Conor. It combines the yin (spiritual side and in your tale the breaking free), and yang (rooted to the earth) beautifully.
Ely Arsha
Such a lovely painting with a wonderful tale to go along with it.
Ewan McAnuff
